How to read the wire — a 60-second guide
Welcome. The Landing Wire covers one thing completely: every player who lands at a Toronto team — eight teams, eight leagues — and what that landing actually involves. Sixty seconds here and you will read every post at a glance.
Why we exist
Trades and signings get reported everywhere. What nobody covers is the landing: a player learns they work in another country now — new border, new taxes, new bank, new home, sometimes in a matter of days. That human story is our beat. We report it with wire-service discipline and plain language, and we celebrate arrivals — we never dunk on the people living them.
How a post reads
FROM → TO. Every story is a journey. The left side is the city a player leaves; the right side is Toronto. The colors on our cards change with the teams: the departing team’s color resolves into the Toronto team’s — Toronto always wins the frame, because that is the story.
The color stripe. The eight-color band on everything we make is the eight Toronto teams, one color each. It is our signature — if you see the stripe, it is us.
The team squares. Each team appears as its color plus its sport’s symbol — never a logo. Orange basketball is the Tempo; navy hockey is the Leafs. Color + sport tells you the team in half a second.
The three labels
Our names, plainly
The Files — free explainers, no jargon: why every arrival needs a work permit, what a trade does to an athlete’s taxes, what teams actually provide. Written for readers, kept current as rules change.
The Wrap — the Sunday email. Every Toronto move of the week plus one deep dive, in one read, at 6:30 AM. It never posts publicly — subscribing is the only way in.
The Board — every team’s moves this week, one table. If a team is not on it, nothing happened.
Landed — readers’ own stories of moving a life to this city, told with their permission.
The Arrival Card — the post format you will see most: one player’s journey, told FROM → TO.
What we promise
Every fact is credited to the outlet that reported it. Analysis appears only when a named insider said it — we report analysis, we don’t invent takes. Unconfirmed news is labeled until it isn’t. No betting content, ever. When we get something wrong, we correct it visibly, on every surface it ran. And we are independent — not affiliated with any team or league. The full standards and corrections policy is one page.
